Betsy caught Covid! OK, not really but she definitely suffered from a Covid related symptom.
From the day we purchased Betsy as a new unit, her front air conditioner did not work. We had her in to Little Dealer Little Prices a couple of times. LDLP isn’t where we bought Betsy but it is the closest Grand Design authorized repair facility.
On the first trip, she was “quarantined” for 3 weeks before receiving the initial diagnosis. The AC couldn’t be repaired and would need to be replaced. We left her in for another week before having to pick her up for our scheduled trip to Williams, AZ.
AC units are one of the Covid casualties. Because so many new RVs are being sold, there’s a much higher demand for all of the parts, including AC units. It wasn’t until the middle of September that we were notified that her replacement AC had arrived.
Back to the hospital she goes for her official surgery. And we wait. And wait. And wait some more.
After another 4 weeks, Jeff calls to notify LDLP that we will need to check her out of the hospital by November 2nd for an upcoming trip. We finally were able to bring her home just a few days early.
Along the way, the motor in the kitchen fan broke so that still needs to be replaced. We are hoping the process won’t take quite as long but aren’t holding our breath!
With these delays, it took us a while to get back on the road. So, instead, we spent time looking to add to our pack. We actually took almost as much time to find just the right dog as we did to find the right rig.
Stay tuned for next week’s post where we introduce our newest pack member!
